Since I was a young child, I have always had a strong fascination with animals. It seems that children in general have a strange affinity with animals, always wanting to be near creatures, to touch them, to hold them. The innocence of children can be mirrored by the purity of the animal kingdom. Not only to pets serve as a playmate and companion, it is through this close interspecies relationship that children learn to respect life and the world around them and learn responsibility. Also, this opportunity of having pets also encourages a connection between child and animal that results in a loving bond. Seeing how children and animals interact with each other offers us a unique glimpse into the heart of human culture, of how a truly pure and unselfish relationship can be fostered and how animals beome cherished and a part of the family.
